I found OptiMem (RAMCharger) for free but apparently it is a trial and I’m not sure how to make it keep working for longer. The next thing I am looking for is some sort of RAM enhancing software for the Classic. Does anyone know? But both the browser and server appear to be runing fine, (at least as much as I can test without an Ethernet connection yet). I was not able to reach the server by typing localhost (or 127.0.0.1) in the browser, but perhaps there is no link between them. Then I successfully unstuffed and installed MacHTTP 2.2 as well. If anyone wants it let me know and I’ll be glad to provide. sea version of Stuffit Expander 4 on some obscure college server. Fortunately, this morning (after searching until the end of the Internet) I found a. Thanks for the suggestion but I actually tried that one without any success before creating this thread. The latest version that will run under System 6 is this one (3.51), which ought to be a self-expanding archive (.sea).

The old Unstuffit is for the original Stuffit 1.2 format, I believe, which has undergone many changes since. What you need is an old enough version of Stuffit Expander I have searched until the end of the Internet and have tried everything I could think of. But the files must remain stuffed on a PC otherwise they get corrupted. If I had another Mac, this would be easy because I could unstuff the files and then put them on floppies for the Classic. But luckily I have TransMac installed, a program to write Mac floppy disks. Unfortunately, the only computer that I currently have online is a PC. All I need to do is get MacHTTP on to that Mac. I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me with this.

So if you never have it in the first place, what do you do? Basically, you need it in order to get it. The problem is, Stuffit Expander, comes stuffed.

I suppose I need a newer Stuffit Expander. Unfortunately, the only stuffit that my Mac has is the very early “Unstuffit” which contrary to its name, will not unstuff this file. I found an older MacHTTP, version 2.2, that is a Stuffit Expander. I’m not sure of why the problem occurs since other people are using MacHTTP on a Macintosh Plus (even older than the Classic).

It comes as a self extracting archive file but when I go to open it, it says it will need 6 megs of memory, which a Macintosh Classic obviously does not have. Now, all I need is MacHTTP ( This is where the problem lies.
